Metro Manila weeklong anti-crime nets over 800, surge of arrests during 'Undas'
A total of 290 suspected drug pushers and users were arrested while around P7.2 million worth of illegal drugs were seized in a weeklong operations conducted in Metro Manila, the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) said.
NCRPO director Maj. Gen. Anthony A. Aberin said the 290 arrested illegal personalities were among the 829 people his men collared from Oct. 27 to Nov. 2 what he described as intensified law enforcement operations across Metro Manila.
Also arrested were 245 wanted persons, including 109 Most Wanted Persons (MWPs) and 136 Other Wanted Persons (OWPs).
The surge in arrests, according to Aberin, was noted between October 28 and 31, coinciding with intensified police visibility and All Saints’ and All Souls Days preparations.
“Every arrest, every operation, and every act of service reflects our shared mission — to be swift, accountable, and united in protecting our people,” said Aberin.
For anti-illegal drugs campaign, Aberin said a total of 1,012.47 grams of shabu, 2,062.18 grams of dried marijuana leaves, and 57.09 grams of ketamine were confiscated.
In the weeklong campaign against illegal gambling, he said 465 persons were nabbed and ₱95,266.00 in bet money were seized.
Aberin also disclosed that the intensified campaign against gun-related crimes resulted in the arrest of 44 persons and confiscation of 45 loose firearms.
“The initiative underscores the command’s vigilance in preventing the proliferation of unlicensed firearms and ensuring public safety,” he said.
Meanwhile, Aberin said the enforcement of ordinance of local government units in Metro Manila yielded a total of 62,376 violators— a total of 18,262 were fined, 281 were charged, and 43,822 were warned and released.
