Makati gov't provides financial assistance to typhoon-hit Masbate towns

The Makati City government has provided a total of P1.25 million financial assistance to two municipalities in Masbate affected by Typhoon Opong last Sept. 26, as part of its continuing support for disaster-stricken localities.

Mayor Nancy Binay personally handed over P750,000 to San Jacinto Mayor Francisco “Kito” Altajeros and P500,000 to Baleno Mayor Marites Dela Rosa during a turnover ceremony at the Makati City Hall on Tuesday, Nov. 11.
The two municipalities are among the recipients of Makati’s P34-million calamity assistance fund, approved by the City Council through Resolutions 2025-A-017 and 2025-A-018 on Oct. 13, 2025.
The mayor said the financial aid demonstrates the city's ongoing commitment to support local governments affected by natural calamities.
The city government has consistently provided financial support to disaster-affected LGUs across the country, strengthening its role as a partner in recovery and resilience.
Typhoon Opong affected 85,691 families or 318,111 individuals in 543 barangays in Masbate.
