Graduating student shot dead in Abra

A graduating student of the University of Abra in Bangued, Abra province was shot and killed by an intoxicated man on Monday.
Police identified the victim as Larry Bautista Jr. of Pangasinan province and Zone 7, Bangued.
The Bangued Municipal Police Station said the suspect, Erwin Buging, was drinking with friends near the victim’s boarding house when he became agitated and shot the victim.
The victim was taken to a hospital in Abra then transferred to a hospital in the nearby province of Ilocos Sur where he was declared dead.
Police said the suspect was extremely drunk and could not recall that he shot the victim.
“The suspect was drunk and said he did not know what happened, but he must take responsibility for the crime,” said Bangued police chief Police Major Graeme Boy Javier.
Bautista's brother was heartbroken over his death and appealed for justice.
Student and teachers of the University of Abra mourned the death of Bautista.
Teachers described Bautista as a cheerful working student who used his talent in photography and videography to fund his education.
Follow-up investigation is ongoing.
