Vice President Sara Duterte shrugged off allegations linking her to supposed destabilization efforts against the government, calling it as mere gossip.
In a media interview in Negros Occidental on Tuesday, Nov. 11, Duterte said the claims she is one of the financiers of a supposed destabilization plot must be backed by proof or substantiated with evidence.
“Kasi yung mga ganyan na kung napapansin nyo, ako ay hindi talaga ako nabibigay ng mga alegasyon kung wala akong ebidensya (If you’ve noticed, I really don’t make allegations without evidence),” she said.
“So yung mga ganyan, kapag meron kang alegasyon, wala kang ebidensya, ang tawag niyan ay chismis o ang tawag sa iyo ay chismosa (So when you have allegations without proof, that’s called gossip, and that makes you a gossipmonger),” she added.
The Vice President was asked by the media about the list disclosed by veteran broadcaster and columnist Ramon Tulfo in a social media post, naming her as among those who have been allegedly funding the destabilization plot.
Tulfo also identified Davao Rep. Paolo Duterte and former Ilocos Sur Gov. Chavit Singson as the other financiers along with the Vice President.
Also included in his list were Baguio Mayor Benjamin Magalong, several government officials, and former generals.
On Tuesday, Malacañang said the alleged destabilization list has already been forwarded to the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and is now being validated.
