The Southern Police District (SPD) said it mobilized 452 personnel to help in disaster response during the onslaught of typhoon “Uwan.”
Brig. Gen. Randy Arceo, SPD acting director, ordered the immediate activation of disaster response protocols to ensure public safety, provide rescue assistance, and maintain peace and order during the height of the storm.
A total of 265 Reactionary Standby Support Force (RSSF) personnel and 13 Search, Rescue, and Retrieval (SRR) teams comprising 187 personnel were deployed across SPD stations and affected communities.
The units were placed on heightened alert to respond to emergency calls, assist evacuees, and support local government units in rescue operations.
Through the chiefs of police in Muntinlupa, Taguig, Makati, Parañaque, Las Pinas Las Piñas, Pasay and Pateros, the SPID monitored 174 evacuation centers, of which 92 were occupied during the peak of the storm.
The evacuation centers sheltered 3,865 families or 15,166 individuals who were forced to evacuate due to flooding and hazardous conditions brought by Bagyong Uwan.
Breakdown of total evacuees per city, according to the SPD:
- Pasay - 220 families / 816 individuals
- Parañaque - 1,363 families / 4,953 individuals
- Las Piñas - 281 families / 1,090 individuals
- Muntinlupa - 1,428 families / 6,088 individuals
- Taguig - 567 families / 2,198 individuals
- Pateros - Five families / 20 individuals
- Makati - One individual
