Members of the Senate on Tuesday, November 11 prayed for Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile after it was disclosed that the former veteran lawmaker is now in a critical condition.
“I have just received a very very sad information, that our former colleague, former Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile is currently in the intensive care unit (ICU) of an undisclosed hospital, suffering from pneumonia,” Senator Jinggoy Ejercito Estrada said during the Senate’s plenary session.
“And I heard from a reliable source, a very, very reliable source, that he has slim chances of surviving,” he further said.
Estrada then asked the whole assembly to say a short prayer led by Sen. Joel Villanueva.
Villanueva, then stood and prayed for Enrile’s life and for his whole family.
Enrile, who once led a coup against former president Ferdinand Marcos, Sr. is chief presidential legal counsel of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, Jr.
