TACLOBAN CITY – A 21-year-old security guard was shot and wounded at Leyte Colleges Campus in Barangay 88, San Jose, Tacloban City, Monday.
The victim was identified as Jin, a student and security guard from Tabigue, Abuyog, Leyte.
Police received a report that a shooting victim was taken to the Eastern Visayas Medical Center (EVMC) here.
They found Jin being treated. Unable to provide a statement due to his injuries, investigators proceeded to the crime scene.
They encountered Chie, a 38-year-old security guard from Barangay Campetic, Palo, Leyte, who claimed he heard a gunshot and found the victim wounded with a .38 caliber firearm nearby.
The victim, upon regaining consciousness at EVMC, refuted the suspect’s account.
Jin stated that he, Chie, and janitor Mak were drinking at the guard house when Chie became unruly and threatened to kill them.
The victim said he was awakened by a gunshot and saw Chie standing over him with a firearm before he was shot in the face and lost consciousness.
Based on this new information, police returned to Leyte Colleges Campus and arrested Chie.
Two .38 caliber revolvers, believed to be the weapons used in the shooting, were confiscated.
The suspect and firearms are now at Police Station 1, Tacloban City Police Office, for further investigation and proper disposition.
