"Congressmeow" Cavite 4th district Rep. Francisco "Kiko" Barzaga erroneously claimed that President Marcos issued an arrest warrant against Senator Ronald "Bato" Dela Rosa over the weekend.
The gen Z lawmaker and social media savant gave these remarks Saturday, Nov. 8 in one of his State of the Nation Address (SONA)-style video uploads.
"My fellow citizens, President Marcos plans to arrest all of his political opponents. Earlier today, Marcos issued an arrest warrant against Senator Dela Rosa, an ally former President [Rodrigo] Duterte, which President Marcos has also arrested," Barzaga said.
The Philippine president does not issue warrants of arrest.
The eccentric solon's claims coincided with reports that the International Criminal Court (ICC) based at The Hague in the Netherlands issued an arrest warrant against Dela Rosa.
This was in connection with the crimes against humanity case that also involved ex-president Duterte. Duterte is detained and being tried by the ICC since mid-March.
It was Ombudsman Jesus Crispin "Boying" Remulla who first said that the ICC had issued a warrant for Dela Rosa's arrest. However, local authorities and the ICC itself have yet to confirm this as of Tuesday, Nov. 11.
"But it will not stop there. The Marcos administration also plans to imprison Senator Bong Go, Senator [Joel] Villanueva, and Senator [Rodante] Marcoleta," Barzaga added, without providing any proof.
The neophyte solon from Dasmariñas City further claimed that Marcos had started to "kill" his opponents, again without providing any evidence.
Barzaga then asked Filipinos to "march toward the gates of Malacañang" and remove the sitting Chief Executive via "People Power".
The particular video upload has over 106,000 reactions and over 24,000 shares as of this positing.
