Iloilo agri-fishery sector sustains P185.2 M in damage from 'Tino'

ILOILO CITY — The agriculture and fisheries sector of Iloilo province sustained P185.2 million in damage from typhoon "Tino."
The Iloilo Provincial Agriculture Office reported on Tuesday, Nov. 11, that 9,513 farmers and fisherfolk have been affected in nearly all of the 42 towns and component city of Passi.
The rice sector suffered the biggest loss at P63.6 million. Tino affected 5,396 farmers in 38 towns.
The high-value crops sector had losses amounting to P63.3 million, affecting 2,533 farmers.
The province’s fishery sector suffered a damage of P48.13 million that affected 1,1413 fisherfolk in 17 coastal towns.
Corn logged P8.4 million in damage; P1.4 million in livestock and poultry; and P262,925 in cassava production.
Assessment and validation are ongoing for the damages caused by Uwan.
