TORRE'S donation to a Southern Leyte town.
TACLOBAN CITY – San Francisco, Southern Leyte Mayor Jason Ortizo thanked former Philippine National Police chief Gen. Nicolas Torre III for donating a generator set and internet modem to the municipality which was heavily affected by typhoon “Tino” last week.
“Thank you, Gen. Nick Torre, for this generator set you donated to our LGU San Francisco, and more to come. Our people are more grateful for your concern and support. Salamat po, sir, and PD Southern Leyte for the assistance,” he said.
San Francisco and neighboring municipalities in the province of Southern Leyte have no electricity and a stable cellphone signal due to Tino as of posting time.
The LGU appealed for potable water.
Torre said part of the proceeds of “Takbo Laban sa mga Bully,” a fun run he organized in Santa Rosa City, Laguna on Nov. 16 will go to areas devastated by the recent typhoons.
“Bahagi ng proceeds ng ating fun run ay ibibigay natin bilang tulong at pakikiisa sa pagbangon ng ating mga kababayang nasalanta ng bagyo, lalo na sa ating mga kababayan sa San Francisco, Southern Leyte, kung saan ang mayor ay dati nating kasamang opisyal sa PNP, si Gen. Jason Ortizo ng Chaplain Service,” Torre said.
Torre was assigned to the Samar Provincial Police Office and the Police Regional Office 8 in Palo, Leyte from 2017 to 2018.
