According to the City Social Welfare and Development Department (CSWDD), a total of 3,456 individuals or 909 families were staying in 18 evacuation centers across the city as of Monday, Nov. 10.
Each family received food packs, sleeping kits, bottled water, and hot meals as part of the city’s coordinated relief operations.
Mayor Jeannie Sandoval said the city’s top priority is ensuring the safety and well-being of all evacuees until it is safe for them to return home.
“Sa pagdaan ng unos sa ating lungsod, handa tayong rumesponde at tumulong. Nagkaroon ng paglikas ng mga pamilya mula sa kanilang mga kabahayan para sa kanilang kaligtasan bago pa man dumaan ang bagyo (As the storm passed through our city, we were ready to respond and provide help. Families evacuated their homes for their safety even before the typhoon’s landfall),” Sandoval said.
“Ngayon, sisiguruhin natin na ang kanilang mga pangangailangan ay natutugunan habang sila ay nasa shelter. Naririto tayo upang ihatid ang tulong at alamin ang kanilang mga pangangailangan (Now, we will make sure that all their needs are met while they remain in the shelters. We are here to deliver assistance and listen to their concerns),” she added.
To ensure comfort and hygiene, the city deployed mobile services that provide showers, laundry, charging, and water stations for evacuees.
Medical teams from the City Health Department also conducted health checks and distributed free medicines, vitamins, and antibiotics, while the Malabon Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) and Public Safety and Traffic Management Office (PSTMO) assisted in rescue and logistics operations.
Sandoval, along with CSWDD officials, visited several evacuation centers in Barangays Potrero, Tinajeros, Santulan, Maysilo, and Panghulo to personally check on evacuees and oversee the relief distribution.
City Administrator Dr. Alexander Rosete expressed gratitude to local government employees, barangay officials, and volunteers for their tireless service.
“Saludo kami sa kanilang dedikasyon at sakripisyong ibinigay para sa ating mga kababayan. Kahit malakas ang ulan, nakaantabay sila at nakahanda para rumesponde sa oras ng pangangailangan. Taos-pusong pasasalamat para sa kanilang serbisyo (We salute their dedication and the sacrifices they have made for our fellow citizens. Despite the heavy rain, they stayed on standby and were ready to respond whenever needed. Our heartfelt gratitude goes out to them for their unwavering service ),” he said.
