DepEd debunks fake news on removal of Grades 11 and 12 for SY 2026–2027
Public warned against false social media posts claiming that Senior High School will be scrapped next school year

The Department of Education (DepEd) on Tuesday, November 11, cautioned the public against fake news circulating on social media that falsely claims Grades 11 and 12 will be removed from the K to 12 curriculum starting School Year (SY) 2026–2027.
In an official advisory, DepEd clarified that the viral post about the supposed removal of Senior High School (SHS) is false and urged Filipinos to be vigilant against online misinformation.

“Fake news ang kumakalat na post sa social media tungkol sa umano'y pagtanggal ng Grade 11 at 12 para sa SY 2026–2027 (The post circulating on social media about the alleged removal of Grades 11 and 12 for SY 2026–2027 is fake news),” DepEd said.
The department emphasized the importance of digital literacy and responsible social media use, especially when it comes to issues concerning the education sector.
“Muling pinaaalalahanan ng DepEd ang publiko na mag-ingat at maging mapanuri sa mga impormasyong nababasa online (The DepEd once again reminds the public to be cautious and discerning about the information they read online),” the agency said.
DepEd also reminded the public to get official updates only from its verified social media pages and website: Facebook – DepEd Philippines; X (formerly Twitter) – @DepEd_PH; and www.deped.gov.ph
“Huwag i-follow ang mga page na nagbabahagi ng maling impormasyon at agad i-report ang mga ito (Do not follow pages that spread false information, and report them immediately),” DepEd added.
DepEd’s reminder comes amid the ongoing rollout of the revised K to 10 curriculum and preparations for the upcoming revised Senior High School program, which remains part of the country’s basic education system.
