A man who swindled a businessman with fake casino chips worth P20 million was arrested in a joint operation conducted by members of the Pasay City Police, Batangas Police Intelligence Unit, and Dasmariñas City Police on Nov. 10.
Col. Joselito De Sesto, Pasay City Police chief, identified the suspect as alias Bobby, 58, of Sampaloc, Manila. He was arrested at RSM Lutong Bahay Restaurant in Sampaloc 4, Dasmarinas, Cavite.
De Sesto said the victim reported that he was lured by the suspect's cohort, identified as alias Roger, into investing in a supposed winning baccarat game at a casino.
The victim said Roger escaped after he handed out the P20 million investment to him in exchange for $400,000 worth of casino chips. He later found out that the chips given to him by Roger were fake.
The authorities immediately tracked the stolen money through its built-in tracker where they subsequently arrested Bobby at a restaurant in Quezon City.
The police recovered a white Toyota Fortuner, the counterfeit casino chips worth $400,000, and the luggage containing P15,000,000 cash from Bobby.
Bobby is now facing charges of estafa while a manhunt operation was launched for Roger's arrest.
