The Department of Public Works and Highways has reopened the Buntun Bridge in Tuguegarao City, Cagayan hours after it was closed to traffic on Tuesday due to rising water on the mighty Cagayan River caused by typhoon “Tino.”
But the DPWH said the load limit of 15 tons and restriction on heavy vehicles remain.
These are necessary to ensure public safety and maintain the structural integrity of the bridge, the DPWH said.
The DPWH said all trucks and trailer-trucks and fully loaded buses are barred from Buntun Bridge and advised to take alternate routes.
The decades-old bridge was temporarily closed after the Cagayan River reached the critical water level of 12 meters due to Uwan.
The DPWH installed warning signs and personnel continue to monitor.
