Buntun Bridge closed as Cagayan River reaches critical water level
BUNTUN Bridge
The Department of Public Works and Highways-Region 2 announced on Tuesday that Buntun Bridge in Tuguegarao City, Cagayan is temporarily closed after the Cagayan River reached the critical water level of 12 meters due to tropical cyclone "Uwan."
The DPWH has installed warning signs while personnel continue to monitor.
The Cabagan-Santo Tomas-Santa Maria Road, which was previously identified as an alternate route for light vehicles, is currently underwater.
Normal traffic flow will resume in this road section once the water level has subsided.
The DPWH assured monitoring of the structural integrity of the bridge.
The temporary closure will remain in effect until the water level subsides and safety assessments confirm that the bridge is safe for passage.
Face-to-face classes on all levels are suspended in Tuguegaro due to the severe impact of Uwan.
Some schools are being used as evacuation centers.
Motorists were advised to use alternate routes.
