Over 2,000 families in evacuation centers get food packs in Muntinlupa
More than 2,000 families are in evacuation centers in Muntinlupa due to super typhoon “Uwan” (“Fung-wong”).
The Muntinlupa City government said it provided food packs to 2,048 families or 8,646 individuals who are temporarily staying in different evacuation sites in barangays.
Mayor Ruffy Biazon, Gender and Development Focal Point System Co-Chairperson Trina Biazon, and the Social Services Department led in the distribution of the food packs, which contain basic food items for the evacuees.
Biazon earlier ordered the preemptive evacuation of residents living in high-risk areas, including coastal and flood-prone communities.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) lowered the tropical cyclone wind signal in Metro Manila to No. 1 from No. 3 as “Uwan” weakened “over the West Philippine Sea.”
PAGASA reported that as of 10 a.m. on Nov. 10, “The center of Typhoon Uwan was estimated based on all available data at 135 km West Northwest of Bacnotan, La Union (17.1°N, 119.2°E)” with “maximum sustained winds of 130 km/h near the center, gustiness of up to 160 km/h, and central pressure of 970 hPa.”
