The City of Manila remains safe and flood-free in the aftermath of Super Typhoon Uwan, with all major roads passable and city services operating normally, the local government reported on Monday, Nov. 10.
In a live Talk to the People broadcast, Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso presented the latest situational report on the capital’s condition, assuring residents that the city government continues to work around the clock to maintain safety and restore normalcy.
According to the Manila City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MCDRRMO), all major thoroughfares in Manila are clear and passable.
Acting Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief, Police Lieutenant General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., together with Police Colonel Ramon Pranada, Chief of the PNP Command Center, reviewed situation reports from regional and district offices—including the Manila Police District (MPD)—to ensure that relief, recovery, and security operations remain synchronized with local government efforts.
In Manila, PNP personnel remain deployed to assist in traffic management, debris clearing, and crowd control in areas where relief operations are ongoing. The PNP Command Center continues to operate 24/7, monitoring weather updates, security developments, and the welfare of affected communities nationwide.
Lt. Gen. Nartatez commended the Manila Police District (MPD) and the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) for their round-the-clock deployment in flood-prone and densely populated areas such as Quiapo, Tondo, and Sampaloc, where police visibility and community assistance have been crucial in maintaining peace and order during and after the storm.
“With our men and women on the ground, the PNP remains committed to ensuring safety, discipline, and readiness in every community affected by Typhoon Uwan,” Nartatez said.
With Manila’s streets cleared, markets operational, and law enforcement visible on the ground, both the local government and the police assured the public that the capital remains resilient, responsive, and ready to face the challenges after Uwan.
Meanwhile, Domagoso ordered citywide clearing and cleanup operations, directing the Department of Public Services, City Engineering Office, and MCDRRMO to remove debris and garbage from major streets to ensure public safety.
Market Administration Office Director TJ Hizon confirmed that all public markets in Manila have resumed normal operations, with a price freeze still in effect across the city. Meanwhile, declogging operations continue in low-lying areas to keep drainage systems functional.
All 44 health centers and seven public hospitals in Manila remain open and operating at normal capacity, with no reported surge in patients following the typhoon.
