Butuan City under state of calamity due to 'Tino,' 'Uwan'
BUTUAN CITY – The Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) here, in a special session on Sunday, passed a resolution declaring Butuan City under a state of calamity.
Under Resolution No. 17-061-2025, the SP indicated that the declaration was anchored on the severe impacts of typhoon ‘’Tino’’ (international name ‘’Kalmaegi’’) and further aggravated by super typhoon ‘’Uwan’’ (international name ‘’Fung-wong’’).
“The City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (CDRRMC) earlier recommended the declaration after assessing the widespread damage to infrastructure, agriculture, and livelihoods across multiple barangays. The Sangguniang Panlungsod unanimously approved the resolution during its special session,” the SP said in a statement issued Sunday evening.
Residents were urged to remain vigilant and follow official advisories as the city intensifies its disaster response operations.

With the declaration, the city government can immediately implement emergency and recovery programs, monitor the prices of basic necessities, provide easier access to aid from the national government and its immediate release to the affected, prompt response to health needs of residents, and the immediate release of funds, the PIO added.
“Residents are advised to be alert for possible heavy rains as typhoon Uwan is still inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility,” it said. (PNA)
