A total of 6,049 individuals have taken shelter in various evacuation centers in Parañaque as heavy rains and strong winds continued to affect Metro Manila, brought about by Typhoon Uwan on Sunday.
Parañaque City Mayor Edwin Olivarez said the evacuees were housed in designated barangay halls, covered courts, and public schools that have been converted into evacuation sites.
Most of the evacuees came from Barangays Sto. Nino, BF Homes, Moonwalk, San Antonio, San Isidro, San Dionisio, Tambo, Marcelo Green, Baclaran, Sun Valley, Don Bosco, Merville, Don Galo, La Huerta.
Olivarez said Parañaque's Emergency Local Operations (ELO) center continues to conduct regular monitoring of the weather situation as well as the conditions of the evacuees.
Residents were also told to remain vigilant on the weather conditions.
