The Office of Civil Defense (OCD)-Region 2 reported three fatalities from super typhoon ‘’Uwan’’ in the Cagayan Valley region.
OCD-Region 2 Director Leon Rafael said the fatalities were residents of Kayapa and Kasibu, both in Nueva Vizcaya, and killed in landslides.
They were five-year-old twins and a 10-year-old Grade 6 pupil.
Rafael reported four injuries and missing.
Uwan affected 683 barangays in Region 2 with 14,104 families or 43,419 individuals displaced.
Classes and government work were suspended in Nueva Vizcaya province on Tuesday due to the effects of Uwan. (Freddie Lazaro)
Road clearing
Road clearing operations are ongoing in Isabela province following the onslaught of Uwan.
The Isabela Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO), Public Safety Office (PSO), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Environment and Natural Resources Office (ENRO), and ISELCO II are conducting these in the City of Ilagan, Gamu, Naguilian, Benito Soliven, and San Mariano.
Public Order and Safety Officer Kim Patrick Agbayani reported that major routes, such as the national highway from Cordon to San Pablo, and from Cordon to Ramon, Roxas, and Santa Maria, remain open following coordination with Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) district engineering offices.
