Two people were injured after a portion of an electronic billboard attached to a condominium building collapsed along the southbound lane of the Aurora Boulevard–Katipunan Avenue Service Road in Quezon City on Monday morning, Nov. 10.
According to the initial report, the incident occurred around 9 a.m. amid strong winds and rain in the area.
A motorcycle taxi rider and his passenger were hit by the falling side panel of the billboard, causing injuries.
The victims were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Authorities temporarily closed the Katipunan Service Road southbound from Xavierville Avenue to the Aurora Boulevard intersection to ensure public safety and allow clearing operations.
Motorists are advised to take alternate routes via Xavierville Avenue or the Katipunan flyover.
Vehicles heading toward Marcos Highway may make a U-turn along Katipunan before reaching B. Serrano Avenue southbound.
The Quezon City government and building management are conducting an investigation to determine the cause of the collapse and assess the structural safety of the billboard.
