ILOILO CITY – Typhoon Uwan’s strong winds wreaked havoc in coastal areas in northern Capiz province on Sunday, Nov. 9.
A consolidated report form the Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council-6 said that several local government units reported damage while under storm signal No. 1.
Quoting a report from the Capiz PDRRM Office, the RDRRMC-6 said among these were Roxas City, Panay town, and Pilar town.
Houses made of light materials as well as small fishing boats were damaged.
No heavy rainfall was recorded but flooding was reported in several areas.
More than 8,500 people have been evacuated as of 4 p.m.
Many parts of northern Capiz, including the capital Roxas City, are still reeling from the impact of the Oct. 18 flashflood during typhoon ‘’Ramil’’ and typhoon ‘’Tino’’ on Nov. 4.
Roads near the coastline in Roxas City were also damaged.
