Parañaque City Mayor Edwin Olivarez ordered the City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) task force to conduct declogging and syphoning operations to prevent flooding due to Tropical Storm Uwan.
The CENRO task force, headed by Bernie Amurao, conducted the operations in front of SM Sucat as a preparatory measure to prevent flooding in the city.
The task force was deployed to clear the drainage, canals, and manholes, aimed to prevent flooding along the city’s main thoroughfare and ensure the smooth flow of water.
The CENRO is also coordinating with the Traffic Parking Management Office, Disaster Risk and Reduction Management Office, and the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) for immediate response to areas affected by flooding.
The CENRO also conducts monitoring at the Parañaque Emergency Local Operations Center to determine areas around the city with flooding and the need for immediate cleaning of waterways
