Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso has ordered a price freeze on essential goods across Manila following recommendations from the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), as Super Typhoon Uwan approaches.

Under Republic Act 7581 (The Price Act), basic commodities will remain at prevailing prices for up to 60 days. Covered items include rice, bread, eggs, milk, vegetables, fruits, cooking oil, kerosene, LPG, instant noodles, sugar, coffee, detergents, and essential medicines.

The city government has warned businesses against hoarding, profiteering, or unlawfully raising prices. The Market Administration Office is tasked with disseminating information and ensuring compliance in all markets.

Residents are urged to stay calm, buy only what they need, and cooperate with authorities as Manila strengthens its preparedness measures ahead of the typhoon.
