The Eastern Police District (EPD) on Sunday, Nov. 9, said it is on full alert and ready to respond to any emergencies in anticipation of the possible effects of Super Typhoon Uwan in Metro East cities.
EPD District Director Brig. Gen. Aden T. Lagradante said the district’s Search and Rescue Team, along with personnel from the PaMaMariSan CPS, District Mobile Force Battalion (DMFB), and District Headquarters (DHQ), are fully equipped and on standby for possible search and rescue, evacuation, and relief operations.
In preparation, the EPD conducted a simultaneous accounting of its Search and Rescue (SAR) Team as part of the Reactionary Standby Support Force (RSSF), alongside the inspection of disaster response equipment and resources.
The activity was simultaneously carried out across the four EPD city police stations—Pasig, Mandaluyong, Marikina, and San Juan, as well as the DMFB and DHQ.
According to the EPD, the initiative aimed to ensure the full operational readiness of all personnel, vehicles, and disaster response equipment for immediate deployment in case of emergencies. It also sought to strengthen coordination among EPD units, enhance situational awareness, and guarantee that adequate manpower and logistical resources are in place for possible rescue, relief, and recovery operations.
Lagradante added that the EPD continues to coordinate closely with local government units (LGUs), barangays, and other concerned agencies to ensure public safety amid the expected inclement weather.
“Nanatiling alerto at handa ang buong pwersa ng Eastern Police District na tumugon sa anumang uri ng emerhensiya para sa kapakanan ng mamamayan (The entire EPD force remains on alert and committed to safeguarding the welfare of residents within its area of responsibility),” EPD said.
