CAAP temporarily closes some airports as 'Uwan' intensifies
Several airports in Luzon were closed as part of the safety measures amid the onslaught of super typhoon “Uwan”, the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) said on Sunday, Nov. 9.
In a statement, the CAAP said the temporary closure covers all the agency-operated airports, including all the airports in Bicol region such as the Bicol International Airport (BIA) in Daraga, Albay; Naga, Virac, Masbate, and Daet Airports, as well as Bulan and Bacon Airports in Sorsogon.
The temporary closure order also covers the Cauayan Airport (from 11:35 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Nov. 9); Baguio Airport (from 12:24 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. Nov. 10); and, Sangley Airport (from 9:18 a.m. until 6 p.m., Nov. 10).
“All flights to and from the affected airports have been cancelled or diverted. Passengers are advised to coordinate directly with their respective airlines for real-time flight updates, rebooking options, and other travel-related concerns,” the statement read.
“Stranded passengers are being assisted and provided with meals at affected airports until flight operations can safely resume,” itadded.
