DAGUPAN CITY – Pre-emptive evacuation has been conducted in the coastal towns of Maconacon, Divilacan, Dinapigue, and Palanan in Isabela as typhoon “Uwan” approached the province on Sunday.
Other parts of Isabela are also conducting pre-emptive evacuations.
The State weather bureau warned of life-threatening storm surges in coastal areas.
The Isabela Multi-Purpose Evacuation Center in the Provincial Capitol Compound in the City of Ilagan is accommodating evacuees.
Provincial Social Welfare and Development Officer Gina Rivero said the center can accommodate approximately 400 individuals.
Gov. Rodito T. Albano and Vice Gov. Kiko Dy directed barangay officials to start pre-emptive evacuation as early as Saturday.
La Union
The Philippine Coast Guard Sub-Station Bangar conducted pre-emptive evacuation in Barangay Mindoro, Bangar, La Union as Uwan nears.
It continues to coordinate closely with the local government unit, barangay officials, and MDRRMO to facilitate the safe transfer of affected families to evacuation centers.
This proactive measure forms part of the Philippine Coast Guard’s intensified readiness posture in anticipation of heavy rains, strong winds, and possible flooding.
