The Department of Tourism (DOT) on Saturday, Nov. 8, reminded tourism establishments to maintain fair pricing and compassionate service for travelers and evacuees affected by recent calamities.
In a statement, the DOT said accredited tourism enterprises must practice transparency and responsibility, avoiding unreasonable price increases.
They are also urged to offer flexible cancellation or rebooking options for affected guests.
Establishments are encouraged to inform arriving guests of any damages or limitations in their facilities to provide safe and comfortable stays.
DOT is coordinating with local government units and partner agencies to monitor compliance and assist tourism workers impacted by the disruptions through relief and livelihood programs.
“Overpricing or denial of service during calamities undermines Filipino hospitality, which thrives on fairness and compassion,” the department said.
It added that providing genuine service during crises reflects the nation’s commitment to safety and dignity for all visitors.
