QUEZON police officers deployed for 'Uwan.'
LUCENA CITY, Quezon – Police in this province are ready for the onslaught of typhoon “Uwan.”
Police Col. Romulo Albacea, Quezon police director, has conducted an accounting of personnel, vehicles, and equipment for deployment.
The Quezon Police Provincial Office is on red alert status to enable them to assist local government units affected by the howler.
Coast Guard
The Philippine Coast Guard Southern Tagalog is on heightened alert for Uwan.
All sea travels were cancelled effective Saturday for small crafts and ships in the provinces of Quezon, Batangas, Marinduque, Romblon, Oriental and Occidental Mindoro, including Pollilo Islands, as these areas were placed under tropical cyclone warning wind Signal No. 1 by the State weather bureau.
The PCG reminded their owners to monitor all notices from PAGASA and be vigilant until the weather normalizes.
The Coast Guard District Southern Luzon is on alert for monitoring, rescue operations, and maritime safery enforcement.
RDRRMC
The Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council-Calabarzon is on red alert for Uwan.
It has conducted a pre-disaster risk assessment for where the possible impacts and risks to the region were discussed.
Government agencies laid out preparedness, response, and rapid coordination measures to ensure the safety communities in the region.
The RDRRMC has ordered a pre-emptive evacuation of people in high-risk areas in the region.
These areas are threatened and were identified by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources-Mines and Geoscience Bureau as vulnerable to flooding, landslides, and storm surges.
Liquor ban
The municipality of Mauban in Quezon province has implemented a liquor ban due to Uwan.
Mayor Erwin Pastrana has issued executive order imposing the measure effective noon Saturday for the safety of the people.
The order effective until Uwan leaves the Philippine Area of Responsibility prohibits selling and buying alcohol as well as drinking in public places. Violators will be sanctioned under existing rules and regulations.
Food packs
The Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office IV-A has sent 7,100 family food packs to satellite warehouses in the provinces of Laguna and Batangas provinces in preparation for Uwan.
The agency earmarked 5,100 for Santa Cruz, Laguna; 1,500 for Calamba City, Laguna, and 500 for Tuy, Batangas.
Prepositioning of family food packs enables the DSWD to ensure that affected families and communities receive assistance without delay.
