President Marcos has praised the Philippine Marines for their bravery and steadfast service to the nation, assuring them of full government support to strengthen their capabilities and welfare.
Speaking at the 75th founding anniversary celebration of the Philippine Marine Corps in Parañaque City, the President pledged continued investment in modern equipment, strategic bases, and programs that enhance national defense readiness.
“Under my watch, we will continue to provide you the means to match the mandate that you bear,” he said during the celebration on Friday, Nov. 7.
The Commander-in-Chief lauded the Marines for embodying courage and resilience in every mission, calling them one of the enduring pillars of the country’s strength.
“Courage is your heartbeat. When others hesitate, you step forward. You are among the first to fight, you are the last to rest,” he said.
“Dala ninyo ang diwa ng Karangalan, Katungkulan, at Kabayanihan—mga haliging hindi natitinag ng panahon (You carry the spirit of Honor, Duty, and Valor—pillars that withstand the test of time),” he added.
Marcos said the Marines’ willingness to face danger for the sake of the country exemplifies their unmatched dedication.
“Despite the risks that shadow your mission, you never falter,” he said.

Modernization and support

President Marcos emphasized that courage alone is not enough in a rapidly changing security environment, stressing the need for advanced tools and modern systems to meet future challenges.
“A Marine who answers the call must never face tomorrow with yesterday’s tools,” he said, underscoring the government’s priority to modernize the Marine Corps’ combat capabilities.
“Be assured that the government is prioritizing the modernization of your combat capabilities, investing in establishing strategic bases, revitalizing our Self-Reliant Defense Posture Program, and strengthening maritime domain awareness,” he added.
The President also highlighted the government’s continuing support for the morale and welfare of soldiers and their families.
“Nais kong gamitin ang pagkakataong ito upang magpasalamat sa inyong mga asawa, mga anak, at magulang na patuloy na nagbibigay ng lakas at inspirasyon sa ating mga kawal (I want to take this opportunity to thank your spouses, children, and parents who continue to give strength and inspiration to our soldiers),” he said.
He assured Marine families that their sacrifices would never go unrecognized.
“Sinisiguro ng inyong gobyerno na patuloy ang suporta, kalinga, at serbisyong nararapat para sa bawat Marine at kanilang pamilya (Your government will ensure continuous support, care, and services for every Marine and their family),” he said.
Marcos, who once trained under the Marine Basic Officer Course Class 01-79, ended his speech with a personal salute to the men and women of the corps.
“Know I always stand with you. You have my full trust and confidence,” he said.
“As a proud member of the Marine Basic Officer Course Class of 01-79 who has marched and endured among you—I salute you with the respect of a comrade and the faith of a Commander-in-Chief,” he added.
