LTO exec asked to explain use of agency patrol car as escort along NLEX
The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has asked one of its officials in Central Luzon to explain why he should not be punished for using an agency’s patrol vehicle as car escort along the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) in Pampanga.
In the Show Cause Order (SCO) signed by LTO chief Assistant Secretary Markus Lacanilao, the incident stemmed from a viral video showing a vehicle with red plate being escorted by an LTO patrol car.
The vehicle, a white Toyota Innova Zenix., was later found to be a car registered under the LTO and was assigned to the LTO Regional Office III.
“In view thereof, you… as the assigned user of the above-mentioned motor vehicle, are directed to personally appear before the undersigned within five (5) days upon receipt hereof and to submit a verified comment/explanation why should not be held administratively liable for Conduct Prejudicial to the Best Interest of the service,” the SCO read.
According to Lacanilao, they want to find out the circumstances behind the incident to do away with negative public perception over the viral video.
"Failure to submit, the required written explanation within a specified period shall be construed as a waiver of your right to submit the same and the preliminary investigation may be completed in the absence thereof," the SCO added.
