The Manila Police District (MPD) announced the successful arrest of two individuals wanted for killing a massage therapist inside a hotel in Barangay 589, Sta. Mesa, Manila, last Oct. 23.
The police identified the suspects as former couple Michael John and Jacquelyn, who are residents of Naic, Cavite and Parañaque City respectively.
MPD Spokesman Maj. Philip Ines said the suspects booked the 35-year-old victim identified as Jo for a massage therapy session at the hotel, where they proceeded to rob and kill her.
The police investigation pointed out that the suspects killed Jo by strangulation and bound her hands and feet with an arm band and curtain ties.
They subsequently took the victim's cellphones, tablet, cash, and other valuables before escaping to different directions. Michael John was seen on CCTV riding a motorcycle while Jacquelyn was caught on video walking around Old Sta. Mesa before riding a jeepney.
The erratic behavior of the suspects as well as their quick escape caught the attention of a hotel attendant, who eventually discovered the body of the victim.
Repeat offenders
After the two were arrested on Oct. 30, the police discovered that they were repeat offenders notorious for victimizing massage therapists who are offering home services.
Both Michael John and Jacquelyn have standing warrants for robbery and attempted murder in Pasay City.
The police explained the former couple's modus operandi includes tying the hands and feet of their victims and stealing their belongings before leaving them for dead.
The suspects are currently detained at the MPD headquarters and are both facing robbery and murder charges.
