'Stars of Hope' to benefit 25 foundation wards

DAVAO CITY – Twenty-five children of the Field of Dreams Children’s Charity Foundation will benefit from Dusit Thani Residence Davao’s annual Christmas initiative launched during their Christmas tree-lighting ceremony on Thursday night, Nov. 6.
The hotel group introduced the foundation as the beneficiary of their “Stars of Hope” initiative for this year’s holiday season during their Paskong Kayumanggi Christmas tree-lighting ceremony, marking the start of a month-long series of holiday activities dedicated to community support.
Dusit Thani Davao owner and Torre Lorenzo Development Corp. Chief Executive Officer Tomas Lorenzo said that partnering with the foundation has become a yearly tradition for the hotel during the holiday season, allowing it to give back to the community.
Jhei Manzanero, cluster director of marketing for Dusit Davao Hotels and Resorts, said guests may buy a P350 star ornament, write a wish on it, and hang it on the hotel’s Christmas tree, with all proceeds going to the foundation.
Field of Dreams Children’s Charity Foundation board director Lorna Llamas thanked Dusit Thani Davao for the support the foundation has received. She said the proceeds from Dusit’s initiative will help meet the children’s needs.
“We appreciate the hotel’s kind gesture, extending its hand to the foundation and supporting the 25 children under our care and the staff, as well. Their commitment extends well beyond the holiday season,” Pamela Pitts, treasurer of the foundation.
Reiko Kurano, a member of the board of directors of Field of Dreams, appealed for sustained support for their wards.
The Field of Dreams Children’s Charity Foundation is a non-rofit organization that serves homeless, dependent, neglected, abandoned, and orphaned boys aged three to 18 in Davao City and the Davao region.
