ILOILO CITY – The Office of Civil Defense-6 has urged local government units (LGUs) in Western Visayas region to order pre-emptive evacuation as tropical cyclone “Uwan” nears.
“We once again call on our LGUs to act fast, activate preparedness measures, and prioritize life preservation,” said OCD-6 Regional Director Raul Fernandez, chairman of the Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council-6.
Fernandez asked LGUs in Aklan, Antique, Capiz, Guimaras, and Iloilo provinces as well as the capital city of Iloilo to activate their Emergency Operations Centers (EOCs) to ensure close coordination with the RDRMMC Operations Center.
Western Visayas is still reeling from typhoon “Tino” last Nov. 4.
