Sandoval said the local government remains focused on ensuring the welfare and safety of the affected families.
“Nandito po tayo at patuloy na tututok sa kaligtasan at muling pagbangon ng ating mga kababayang nasunugan nitong Oktubre. Sisiguruhin po natin na sila ay nasa maayos na kalagayan kahit na dumating ang sakunang ito. Magkaisa po tayo, makiisa at magtulungan (We are here to continue ensuring the safety and recovery of our fellow residents affected by the October fire. We will make sure that they remain in good condition despite this tragedy. Let us unite, cooperate, and help one another),” the mayor said.
She directed the City Social Welfare and Development Department (CSWDD), City Engineer’s Office, and Malabon Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) to continue monitoring and assisting residents as they rebuild their homes.
Sandoval personally led the distribution of food packs, hygiene kits, and P10,000 cash aid to 448 affected families staying in evacuation centers.
To support their daily needs, the city also deployed Mobile Jeannie Services, which include mobile showers, laundry, charging, and water stations.
The mayor said the city government is preparing rehabilitation plans to help the victims rebuild their homes and livelihoods.
She noted that Sitio 6 remains a fire-prone area due to its narrow roads and houses made of light materials, emphasizing the need for long-term safety measures and planning.
Sandoval explained that the site is located on private property, limiting the city’s authority in development efforts. Nonetheless, the city government continues to coordinate with property owners and national agencies to extend assistance and explore possible housing solutions.
The city has been expanding its housing initiatives, including the “Lupa Para sa Walang Lupa” program, the construction of four 11-story socialized housing buildings in Barangays Tinajeros and Potrero, and partnerships with the National Housing Authority (NHA) and Social Housing Finance Corporation (SHFC) for affordable housing projects.
Sandoval underscored that disaster preparedness and community safety remain top priorities under her administration. She has directed more fire prevention drives, regular inspections, and closer coordination with the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) and barangay fire brigades.
“The recent fire reminds us of the importance of proactive governance and strong community participation in building safer, more resilient communities,” she said.
City Administrator Dr. Alexander Rosete added that city teams continue to visit affected areas to ensure that all families receive proper assistance.
“Walang maiiwan sa ating pagtulong sa kanilang pagbangon (No one will be left behind as we help them recover),” he said.
The fire broke out in a residential community in Sitio 6, Barangay Catmon, on Oct. 22.
