President Marcos has visited Liloan, Cebu to oversee the relief and recovery operations after the onslaught of Typhoon Tino.

 
The President arrived in Liloan on Friday, Nov. 7, days after the typhoon, which has claimed 188 lives, made landfall in Cebu.


Liloan is among the areas most severely affected by the typhoon, with numerous casualties and widespread damage reported. 


According to Malacañang, Marcos visited Tiltilon Elementary School in Barangay Cotcot, which is currently serving as an evacuation center for 126 families, or 509 individuals.

 
The Chief Executive also led the distribution of family food packs, health kits, hygiene kits, and sleeping kits from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), which have The also provided hot meals to evacuees staying at the school.


The Palace said the Department of Health (DOH)-Central Visayas was also conducting a rapid health assessment in the evacuation center to ensure the safety and well-being of evacuees.


According to DOH-Central Visayas Development Management Officer Rolly Villarin, the DOH is providing free medical consultations and essential medicines, including maintenance medications, antibiotics, doxycycline for leptospirosis prevention, and anti-tetanus vaccines for individuals with injuries.


He added that routine vaccinations for children are also being administered to prevent potential outbreaks of diseases.


Villarin also said that the DOH is conducting Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) assessments to ensure that the water in the evacuation center is safe for both drinking and utility purposes.


The DOH was also monitoring the condition of children, pregnant women, and nursing mothers in the evacuation center to ensure they receive adequate nutrition, including a sufficient supply of breast milk for babies.


After his visit to Liloan, the President proceeded to the Talisay Sports Academy in Talisay City, where he also distributed aid to affected residents.
