Also in the cast are Lee El, Kang Ki-doong, Lee Joo-young, Jo Min-gook and Jeong Ha-jin.

In an interview with Manila Bulletin in Gangnam, Seoul,  Park Seo-jun and Won Ji-an talked about the drama, their characters and working together.

Park Seo-jun is known for the K-dramas “Itaewon Class,” “What's Wrong with Secretary Kim," "Hwarang: The Poet Warrior Youth," and "She Was Pretty.” This is his comeback drama after the series “Gyeongseong Creature.”

Won Ji-an’s acting credits include “Heartbeat,” “Squid Game” seasons 2 and 3, “D.P.” and “Tempest.”

This is the first time that Park Seo-jun and Won Ji-an have worked together in a drama.

“I was very curiously waiting to see and find out who was going to be playing the character Ji-woo. And when I found out that it was going to be Ji-an, I thought she would be amazing at it. I thought that from the beginning she was so in sync with the character,” said Park Seo-jun in the interview.

Won Ji-an said, “Well first of all, because he has a lot more experience as an actor than I have, I honestly was very nervous at first. I also felt a huge amount of pressure thinking that I really have to do a good job. But I felt like if I continued on down that path, he would also probably feel the same way. So I tried my best to feel at the most ease as possible.”

Park Seo-jun said he decided to star in “Surely Tomorrow” because of his character and the story.

“Well, first of all, I really liked my character and I was confident that I could do a great job portraying this character more than anything else. I was drawn to the story and how it was told, how it was a continuum of the past and the present. And so I was very much drawn to that,” he said.

Won Ji-an said the story attracted her.

“Well, first of all, the fact that this story is told through a span of a very long period of time from the character's 20s all the way to their 30s–I thought that as an actor, telling a story like that will help me grow a lot as well. So that's why I was drawn to the show,” she said.

Park Seo-jun is a reporter in “Surely Tomorrow” and to prepare for this, he recalled the interviews he had with journalists, including when he was just starting as an actor when he would go to the offices of media outlets in Korea.

“Well, first of all, I based a lot of it on my experiences through the many interviews that I had, and the journalists that I met through these interviews. I was able to thankfully observe the way they work and I think I felt quite close to them. And when I was just beginning my career, that was back in the day when we would actually go visit the offices to meet with the journalists,” he said.

He added that Lim Hyun-wook, the director of “Surely Tomorrow,” was a journalist.

“So I had experience observing them there too. And on top of that, our director was actually a journalist himself. So based on the director's advice, I was able to create the character in that way,” said Park Seo-jun.

On their chemistry on the set of “Surely Tomorrow,” Park Seo-jun said it’s “perfect” while Won Ji-an said, “It was really great.”

Park Seo-jun and Won Ji-an said for viewers, “Surely Tomorrow” offers an opportunity for them to look back in their past and to be entertained as well.

“I believe that through the depiction of how it was back then and also the story of their relationship that carries on to the present you can really see these characters’ growth through it,” said Park Seo-jun.

He added, “I hope that we give you an opportunity to look back on how things were for you at some point in the past. And there are a lot of very emotional and sentimental scenes, so I hope that you will approach it with a laidback mindset, and if you just respond to it and accept it, I feel like this series is definitely going to be worth your time.”

Won Ji-an said, “I hope that it will be both a very easy and entertaining watch for everyone who chooses to watch it. And because it's a story about two characters’ relationship and growth, I hope that no matter how small it may be, you will get to feel a sense of hope through the story.”

“Surely Tomorrow” will premiere globally on Prime Video in December.
