It’s safe to assume that every car owner wants a more fuel efficient, more intelligent, more exciting, and more affordable way to get around. Some potential buyers, however, think that means spending more for a higher-end vehicle. With the arrival of electrified vehicles and the passing of the EVIDA law that makes them more appealing and more affordable, that’s no longer the case. Making the shift to more efficient, more intelligent, and more exciting, electrified vehicles need not break the bank.
Granted, there may still be some hesitation towards beginning one’s electrification journey. After all, these new vehicles are powered by new sources of energy. Does that mean learning a new way to drive them? There’s also the matter of how far they can go, and when the electricity runs out, finding a place to recharge them. These are all valid concerns, and thankfully, one of the car brands offering tangible solutions to those worries is Ford Philippines.
No stranger to offering modern, stylish, and value-for-money vehicles like the Territory, Ranger, and Everest; Ford’s recent entry into the electrified vehicle space is also guided by those same priorities. And the electrified vehicles worth looking into are the new Territory Hybrid and the full EV Mustang Mach-E.
With these two new vehicles, Ford is giving customers a choice when it comes to enjoying the innovation, efficiency, and performance that the electrification journey brings.
Territory Hybrid
The first vehicle is the Territory Hybrid, which takes everything customers love about the spacious, high-tech, and easy-to-drive bestseller and brings it up a notch with a full hybrid powertrain.
Past customers may remember the Territory as having an internal combustion engine (ICE). For this generation, however, the Territory is now offered with full hybrid variants. The combination of an ICE and electric power work together to return a more efficient driving experience without requiring changes to one’s driving style.
The new Territory Hybrid is powered by a 1.5-liter inline-4 dedicated hybrid engine paired with a two-speed dedicated hybrid transmission and 1.83-kW Lithium-Ion NCM High Voltage Battery. The whole hybrid powertrain produces max engine power of 150-PS, max engine torque of 230-Nm, max electric power of 218-PS, and max electric torque of 315-Nm.
This specialized powertrain combines the benefits of full EVs, full hybrids, and even plug-in hybrid vehicles to return improved fuel efficiency and smoother torque delivery, especially in urban situations that feature stop-and-go traffic. It can run purely on electricity for up to 50-kph with enough battery charge. Drivers can choose from three driving modes: Eco, Normal, and Sport, to tailor performance to road conditions or personal preference. It can also be left as is, and the Territory Hybrid’s intelligent full hybrid system will adapt to the driver and road conditions automatically.
There’s no charging to worry about, no range anxiety to ruin your road trip. The Territory Hybrid has no plug and automatically uses the battery or recharges it whenever convenient. The switch between electric and ICE power is barely even perceptible to the driver. Drive it as you would a normal vehicle and you’ll find the Territory Hybrid will achieve between 16 – 20-km/L without even trying. And when power is needed, that’s automatic too, as it will harness both the ICE and electricity to accelerate from 0-100-kph in just 8.5 seconds.
Like its predecessor, there’s no shortage of class-above features in the Territory Hybrid. It’s got multi-color ambient lighting and a panoramic sunroof. Drivers get a digital instrument cluster and touchscreen entertainment system molded into one piece. It supports wireless Apple CarPlay and AndroidAuto with Arkamys SoundStage audio. In addition, the Territory Hybrid now has FordPass that lets users connect their mobile phones to manage customer connectivity settings, command & control, and vehicle health alerts. With power, efficiency, and technology all rolled into one, the Territory Hybrid, starting at ₱1,399,000 for the Trend variant, and ₱1,599,000 for the Titanium X variant, is a package that’s hard to beat.
Mustang Mach-E
For those that are after style, performance, and most of all, excitement, there’s the full EV Mustang Mach-E. Indeed the conventional ICE Mustang may be what the heart wants, but the head (or wife) may disagree with the lack of four doors or proper rear seats.
The Mustang Mach-E is the perfect solution, offering four doors, proper rear seats, and more space. It still retains the trademark Mustang fastback silhouette and tri-bar tail lamps. It also rolls on 19-inch machine-finished aluminum wheels.
The Mustang Mach-E is powered by a dual permanent magnet synchronous motor that drives all four wheels, producing 394-Ps and 676-Nm of torque. It draws current from an 88-kWh extended-range lithium-ion NCM battery.
You won’t miss the V8 as the Mach-E can accelerate from 0-100-km/h in under 5 seconds. It’s not as thirsty either with a range of 550-km on a full charge. When you do need to charge, the Mach-E has Type 2 (AC) and CCS2 (DC) charging ports, compatible with most gas station and mall public chargers. Upon purchase, customers will get a free 3.5-kW portable charger and 7-kW wall box charger. The wall box charger can replenish the battery overnight, while a 150-kW DC charger can bring it from 10 percent to 80 percent in about 36 to 45 minutes.
The Mach-E actively extends your battery’s range as you drive thanks to technologies like regenerative braking which slows the vehicle and recovers energy for the battery when letting off the throttle. There’s also the 1-Pedal Drive mode that allows the driver to accelerate and brake using only the accelerator pedal. With its auto brake hold feature, driving in stop-and-go traffic is less tiring.
There’s no shortage of premium features like E-latch door handles, perforated ActiveX synthetic leather seats, and a 360-degree camera with split view. Infotainment is provided by a 10.2-inch low-profile digital instrument cluster and a 15.5-inch capacitive touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, paired to a 10-speaker Bang & Olufsen premium sound system with subwoofer. Like the Territory, the Mach-E also comes with FordPass, which lets owners manage their Mach-E right from their mobile devices.
The Mach-E will be the most practical sports car you will ever own with a trunk that has 402-liters and up to 1,420 liters of load space with the rear seats folded down. It is complemented by a front trunk (‘frunk’) storage unit with an additional 80 liters of storage space. The Mustang Mach-E is offered at ₱3,499,000.

With choices like these two vehicles, Ford is making the electrification journey easier. These cars are coding exempt, easier to drive, go further, are packed with more practical technology, and best of all, are still capable of delivering adventure and excitement.
