The Department of Health (DOH) has mobilized its emergency response teams and prepositioned essential medicines and supplies as part of its preparedness efforts for Typhoon Uwan.
In an advisory on Friday, Nov. 7, the DOH said it has placed all health offices on alert and prepared key commodities for immediate deployment to regions expected to be affected by the typhoon.
“Nakaalerto na ang DOH para rumesponde sa mga rehiyon na inaasahang maapektuhan ng Bagyong Uwan (The DOH is now on alert to respond to the regions expected to be affected by Typhoon Uwan),” the agency said.
The DOH said the prepared supplies include medicines for cough, fever, and infections; maintenance drugs for chronic illnesses; and CAMPOLAS kits containing Cotrimoxazole, Amoxicillin, Mefenamic Acid, Paracetamol, Oral Rehydration Salts (ORS), Lagundi, Vitamin A, and skin ointment.
Hygiene kits and clean water containers were also prepared for immediate distribution in evacuation centers and affected communities, the agency said.
The DOH added that Health Emergency Response Teams (HERTs) and DOH hospitals are on standby for deployment to critical areas.
“Naka-standby rin ang mga Health Emergency Response Teams (HERTs) at mga DOH hospitals para sa agarang deployment at pagtugon sa mga maaapektuhang lugar (Health Emergency Response Teams and DOH hospitals are also on standby for immediate deployment and response in affected areas),” the statement read.
It said nearby regions are ready to extend assistance if local supplies or personnel become depleted.
