GUMACA, Quezon – A 17-year-old student was killed and 21 individuals, including two drivers, were injured after a passenger bus lost control and plunged into a ravine on the Diversion Road, Barangay Villa Arcaya, here, Thursday night, Nov. 6.
Police identified the fatality as Joshua, Grade 10 student.
Investigation said Joshua was walking on the roadside with his cousin Ivan, 16, when the driver of a Bobis Liner passenger bus with license plates NKC-2967 lost control of the vehicle on a curved and descending portion of the road due to mechanical problem.
The bus that had 29 passengers and crew onboard ran over Joshua and hit Ivan, who sustained injuries, and fell into a 20-foot-deep ravine.
Eighteen passengers were injured and taken to a hospital.
The bus driver is in police custody. Follow-up investigation is ongoing.
