Siquijor awarded for excellent local gov't finance performance
VILLA
CEBU CITY – The provincial government of Siquijor was recognized for its excellent performance in local government finance in 2024.
The province ranked second in year on year growth in Locally Sourced Revenues (LSR) from FY 2023 to FY 2024 among all provinces.
LSR measures the province’s ability to raise income from local sources.
Siquijor also ranked in the Top 5 for Total Current Operating Expenditures per capita for FY 2024, which covers spending on public services such as general administration, education, health, social welfare, housing and community development, labor and employment, economic services, and debt service, and includes personal services, maintenance and other operating expenses, and financial charges.
These recognition, given by the Bureau of Local Government Finance, reflect both stronger local revenue generation and steady public spending on services that matter to residents, said Gov. Jake Vincent Villa.
“The recognition shows what we can do when we focus on responsible finances and on delivering services to our people,” said Villa.
Villa commended the provincial finance team, Provincial Treasurer Francis S. Vios, Provincial Assessor Wayne Wesly B. Bation, municipal and barangay officials, and all provincial employees for their work that helped the province earn the recognition.
“We will keep working to improve our programs and make sure public funds reach those who need them most.”
The awarding ceremony was held last Nov. 5 at the SMX Convention Center, SM Aura Premier, Taguig City.
