Quezon City named Hall of Famer for leading locally sourced revenues nationwide
The Department of Finance–Bureau of Local Government Finance (DOF-BLGF) has named Quezon City a Hall of Fame Awardee after topping all Philippine cities in Locally Sourced Revenues (LSR) for five consecutive fiscal years, from 2020 to 2024.
The recognition was given during the 38th Anniversary Celebration of DOF-BLGF on Thursday, Nov. 5.
Mayor Joy Belmonte accepted the awards alongside City Treasurer Edgar Villanueva and City Assessor Atty. Sherry Gonzalvo, as the city also placed Top 1 in Locally Sourced Revenues, sixth in LSR to Total Current Operating Income, and earned the Hall of Fame Award for Outstanding Revenue Performance.
According to the DOF-BLGF, Quezon City generated P28.8 billion in locally sourced revenues in 2024 alone, with collections coming from real property taxes, business taxes, and other non-tax revenues.
Mayor Belmonte said the city’s achievement is through strong governance and a system that encourages public trust and compliance.
“Nagawa po namin ito nang hindi nagtataas o nagpapataw ng dagdag na buwis sa taumbayan. Bunga ito ng tiwala at pakikiisa na nagmumula sa maayos at patas na sistema sa Quezon City Hall,” Belmonte said.
The city government has implemented a series of digital reforms in revenue collection -- including online payment systems and streamlined assessment procedures -- to improve transparency and efficiency.
The LGU continues to cements its reputation as a national leader in local fiscal governance, demonstrating that digitalization and transparency can go hand in hand with sustained economic growth.
