Under Gandhi's vision, the IYMC aims to "provide students with the opportunity for intellectual stimulation and global collaboration as they embark on the exhilarating journey of learning, friendship and discovery."
It also aims to "enhance learners' understanding of math concepts and strengthen the ability to apply the theoretical concepts in real life contexts."
The IYMC is "aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals of quality education, industry, infrastructure and climate action," according to Gandhi.
Among the event's guests of honor are Indian lawmaker Sarojinagar Rajeshwar Singh, math expert Mahesh Kakde and MTG head Dr. Simon Chua, who was described by the broadsheet Times of India as a "renowned mathematician from the Philippines." Chua addressed one of the IYMC programs.
On November 5, some members of the Philippine delegation took a side trip to Agra, located some 330 kilometers west of Lucknow, to visit the famed Taj Mahal.
Math specialist Renard Eric Chua is the team leader.
The delegation is scheduled to fly back to Manila on November 7.
