BUTUAN CITY – Victims of typhoon “Tino” in the Caraga region have received P35 million worth of assistance from the government through local government units (LGUs).
The Department of Social Welfare and Development-Caraga through the Quick Response Team has delivered two wing vans filled with family food packs (FFPs) including modular tents in the Province of Dinagat Islands (PDI) which is under a state of calamity.
The agency has distributed 17,997 FFPs in PDI, 20,753 in Surigao del Norte, 13,900 in Siargao Island, 4,182 in Surigao City, and 2,670 in mainland towns.
In the towns of Tubay and Nasipit in Agusan del Norte, 1,414 FFPs have been distributed. This city received 1,561. Two towns in Surigao del Sur received 2,910.
The DSWD is conducting round-the-clock assistance to LGUs in the region and has P76 million in food and non-food items on standby in different warehouses.
DSWD-13 Regional Director Mari-Flor Dollaga and Assistant Regional Director for Operations Jean Paul Parajes are supervising relief operations.
The Police Regional Office-13 led by Police Brig. Gen. Marcial Mariano P. Magistrado IV is assisting relief operations. Soldiers are conducting Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Response (HADR) operations in the region.
Forty-three thousand, six-hundred sixty-two families or 159,925 individuals from 330 barangays in Caraga were affected by Tino, of which 23,508 families, or 79,720 individuals, were displaced.
