Police arrested a 38-year-old man for indiscriminate firing in Barangay Lower Bicutan in Taguig on Nov. 5.
The Taguig police identified the suspect as Harry Plan, a resident of the barangay.
Plan’s mother, Merlita, called the Philippine National Police hotline 911 to report that her son fired several shots into the air.
Responding personnel from the Taguig police’s Substation 12 immediately coordinated with Barangay Lower Bicutan officials, including Kagawad Geronimo Baquiran, who confirmed witnessing the gunfire.
However, negotiation with Plan initiated by Cpt. Orlando Quintero, Subtation 12 commander, was unsuccessful.
This led to the deployment of the Taguig City Police SWAT Team, which tactically breached the suspect’s residence to ensure public safety.
The operation ended peacefully with the suspect surrendering without resistance and was placed under arrest at around 1:40 p.m.. No injuries or casualties were reported.
Recovered from the suspect were two 9mm Taurus pistols, four magazines, 20 pieces of live ammunition, five fired cartridge cases, two firearm boxes, and an Airsoft rifle with scope and tripod.
Verification by the police confirmed that all recovered firearms and ammunition were legally registered under the suspect’s name.
Plan will face a complaint for indiscriminate firing in violation of Republic Act 11926 and alarms and scandals under Article 155 of the Revised Penal Code.
Col. Byron Allatog, officer-in-charge of the Taguig police, commended the quick action of Substation 12, the SWAT Team, and barangay officials.
