The Department of Education (DepEd) on Thursday, November 6, announced that it is revitalizing “DepEd TV” to help curb learning loss and ensure education continuity, especially in remote and disaster-affected areas.
DepEd has partnered with the Knowledge Channel Foundation Inc. (KCFI) and Solar Pictures, Inc. to strengthen the country’s flagship educational broadcast platform, which proved vital during the COVID-19 pandemic by reaching millions of students when schools were closed and internet access was limited.
Under a tripartite Memorandum of Agreement, the three institutions pledged to enhance 21st-century learning delivery, integrate media into classroom instruction, and promote content-based pedagogy.
KCFI will provide curriculum-aligned educational videos and materials, while Solar Pictures will dedicate a digital terrestrial television channel for DepEd TV programming.
DepEd Secretary Sonny Angara said the partnership supports President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s directive to make education more responsive amid growing climate-related disruptions that often suspend classes nationwide.
“We have communities where learners study in temporary shelters and teachers persevere despite losing their classrooms due to earthquakes or typhoons,” Angara said.
“These are the realities of our new normal. It is difficult, but deeply reassuring to know that partners like you continue to stand with us in keeping education going,” he added.
Angara noted that calamities have shown how learning continuity cannot depend solely on face-to-face classes. Initiatives like DepEd TV complement the Department’s Alternative Delivery Modes (ADM) and Academic Recovery and Accessible Learning (ARAL) programs by delivering lessons through accessible, non-internet-based platforms.

Celebrating its 26th broadcast anniversary, KCFI President Rina Lopez reaffirmed the organization’s mission to provide equitable and engaging learning resources.
“From early childhood to K–12 and ALS, we remain dedicated to delivering engaging, culturally grounded, and gender-sensitive lessons that make learning stick—supported by data, feedback, and continuous improvement,” Lopez said.
Meanwhile, Solar Pictures President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Wilson Y. Tieng expressed optimism about the collaboration.
“We look forward to this journey together and to witnessing the impact this collaboration will have on the lives of millions of Filipino students,” he said.
DepEd emphasized that the agreement is non-exclusive, allowing the agency to partner with other providers offering high-quality content aligned with its curriculum standards.
The revitalized DepEd TV marks a major step in the Department’s 5-Point Reform Agenda, which focuses on making education more flexible, inclusive, and climate-resilient through innovative learning delivery.
By combining the reach of broadcast media with curriculum-based instruction, DepEd aims to ensure that no learner is left behind—whether they are in classrooms, evacuation centers, or communities rebuilding after disasters.
