BUTUAN CITY – The Department of Social Welfare and Development is conducting relief operations for victims of typhoon ‘’Tino’’ in the Caraga region.
Thousands of family food packs are being distributed by DSWD Caraga Field Office Quick Response Teams headed by DSWD 13 Regional Director Mari-Flor Dollaga and Assistant Regional Director for Operations Jean Paul Parajes, in evacuation centers in Butuan City, Agusan del Norte, Surigao del Norte, and Province of Dinagat Islands (PDI), in close coordination with local government units and partner agencies.
Moren than 1,500 family food packs have been distributed to affected families here, 1,000 to PDI, and 1,052 to island-barangays in Surigao City.
The Police Regional Office-13 is conducting round-the-clock response and assistance in different evacuation centers in the region.
“Our QRTs are now on the ground, and conducted round-the-clock assistance to different LGUs in the region,” Dollaga and Parajes said.
The Office of Civil Defense Caraga-Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said Tino affected 43,662 families or 159,925 individuals from 330 barangays.
More than 23,500 families or 79,700 individuals were displaced, with 17,273 families staying in 583 evacuation centers and 6,235 staying elsewhere.
