P115-M shabu seized in Cagayan de Oro drug bust
CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – Law enforcers seized 17 kilograms of shabu worth P115.6 million and arrested two suspects in a drug bust here Tuesday.
In a statement, Police Regional Office-10 (PRO-10) said personnel from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency and the PRO-10 Drug Enforcement Unit conducted the operation in Barangay Kauswagan.
Arrested were RL, 19, of Kauswagan, and alias JM, 36, of Barangay Tablon.
PRO-10 said the operation followed weeks of surveillance on suspected drug couriers. The suspects attempted to flee but were subdued.
The seizure is one of the largest anti-drug operations recorded in Northern Mindanao.
PRO-10 said the suspects are in PDEA-10 custody and face charges under the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Police Brig. Gen. Christopher Abrahano, PRO-10 acting director, said the operation disrupted a significant drug distribution network.
"We have once again disrupted a significant drug distribution network and prevented the further spread of illegal drugs in Northern Mindanao," Abrahano said.
