Nawat Itsaragrisil apologizes to Miss Universe '25 candidates, pageant fans: 'I'm sorry'

In a gesture of respect, Nawat Itsaragrisil, Vice President of Miss Universe Asiana and President of Thailand as the Host Country, apologized to the candidates of the 2025 Miss Universe beauty pageant, which had been rocked by controversies in recent days.
"I am human. Everybody knows the past few days have been a lot of pressure. But it's already past. I think you must understand that the pressure is a lot. Sometimes, I cannot control. But I have not intended to harm anyone," said Nawat during the welcome show for the 2025 Miss Universe Competition that was broadcast live on YouTube on Nov. 5.
Nawat continued, "I respect all of you. However, I am truly sorry that it happened. I want to offer this opportunity to apologize to the delegates if anyone was not comfortable with what happened. I'm sorry."
"Also, I am sorry for the Miss Universe fans around the world. However, I would like to request that all the messages be accurate. I saw so many messages that I didn't say. Please review all content on our website for posting. Somebody really put bad words in the post," Nawat added.
However, the Miss Universe official stated that he's leaving everything behind regarding what happened recently.

"Are you happy? Alright! said Nawat.
The girls will be staying in Thailand for 20 days. Nawat said Thailand had prepared for six months to organize the Miss Universe competition.
"I do hope all the girls will be happy in Thailand," Nawat said.
The contestants, he also said, are scheduled to fly to Phuket and Pattaya for other activities, including the swimsuit competition.
On Nov. 4, the Miss Universe Organization (MUO) vowed to uphold transparency, respect, and unity to ensure the success of the pageant in Thailand.

This occurred after some of the girls walked out during the official sash ceremony of the pageant.
It was reported that Nawat clashed with Miss Mexico Fatima Bosch during a live Facebook broadcast.
Some of the girls showed solidarity with Mexico. Then it was announced that the sashing ceremony would resume late in the afternoon, minus Nawat.
Reigning Miss Universe Viktoria Kjaer Theilvig, allegedly one of those who walked out, attended the sashing ceremony.
Pageant fans expressed concern over the pageant drama unfolding on social media. They said that this is the first time controversies have hounded the prestigious pageant.

A few days ago, the MUO issued statements explaining that the special dinner and talk show organized by Nawat for the contestants were not authorized.
Despite the MUO statement, it appears that the special dinner and talk show will continue, as Nawat updates pageant fans on the top 10 leading candidates.
In a fresh statement on Nov. 4, the MUO reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with the host community, the Miss Grand International Organization (MGI), and all local partners to ensure the continued success of the prestigious competition.
"A high-level delegation, led by the Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Mario Bucaro, is traveling to Thailand to strengthen collaboration with the host country, MGI, and relevant authorities," a part of the statement read.
The grand coronation of the 74th Miss Universe beauty pageant will be broadcast live from Thailand on Nov. 21. Watch the welcome ceremony:
