Property giant Megaworld Corporation convened the inaugural Earthquake People and Real Estate Preparedness (PREP) Summit, bringing together key government agencies and private sector leaders to advance a whole-of-nation approach to resilience during the event held at The Blue Leaf Events Pavilion in McKinley Hill, Taguig City.
Officials from key government agencies such as the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), Office of Civil Defense, The Philippine Army, Philippine National Police, and Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) gave insights during the summit, emphasizing that preparedness at the community level must exercise a whole-of-government approach.

Megaworld's executives also announced that the company is implementing a disaster resilience framework across the company's 36 townships. Among its initiatives is the Megaworld Life Bag, an upgraded emergency go-bag that doubles as a flotation aid, designed to help employees and their families stay protected during crises; and the implementation of an Earthquake Council.

"Our vision for the Earthquake PREP Summit is to align efforts and empower communities. As the leading property developer in the country, Megaworld stands ready to share knowledge, resources, and venues to support government-led training and build safer, more resilient communities nationwide. Preparedness begins with awareness—and grows through partnership. The PREP Summit is our way of helping turn that commitment into action,” says Lourdes T. Gutierrez-Alfonso, President and CEO, Megaworld.
The Summit culminated in the ceremonial signing of a manifesto of cooperation, which serves as proof of the cross-sector commitment to preparedness, continued education, and resilience.
